5 TIPS FOR BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED POND
TIP 1 – If you decided to build liner pond, the best way to secure the liner is to put big, heavy stones on the bottom of the pond and smaller stones and gravel on the edge.
TIP 2 – The mechanical peat filter can sometimes get clogged with grass and pour water out to the sides, not into the pond. To avoid this kind of problem, you can remove the filter and place meshes with fibrous peat at the end of the cascade. This helps to accumulate impurities and it is easier to maintain, because it only comes down to changing the filter media every season.
TIP 3 – When buying new aquatic plants and fish, disinfect them first, keeping them in a bucket of fungicide for three days.
TIP 4 – Instead of adding water from the mains to the pond, you can drain rainwater from the roof right into the pond.
TIP 5 – A small sized pond needs a lot of work with water purification, aeration and high costs of its maintenance! Building a pond, you need to consider a size of it – way easier is to maintenance a bigger pond, than a smaller.
