HOW TO PREPARE POND FOR AUTUMN?
First thing you need to know is that the dead parts of water plants should be removed from the pond. When the leaves start to fall from the trees, cover the entire pond with a mesh. This solution will help you avoid large amounts of falling leaves in your pond and what comes with it, additional work.
⠀
Next, dirt and sediments should be removed from the bottom of your pond. Rotting plant debris gives off poisonous gases and causes oxygen deficiency in the water, which can lead to the death of the fish. The easiest and cheapest way is to remove impurities with a special sieve or landing net.
⠀
Dirt and sediments can also be removed by pumping out the water. The bottom of the pond can then be cleaned with a brush. If there are fish in the pond, during cleaning they should be fished out (after a large amount of water has been pumped out) and kept in a container filled with water from the reservoir. If the pond is filled with tap water, the fish can be introduced after 2-3 days after filling the pond.
