Do you know how autumn pond maintenance should look like? Find out the most important things to do before winter will come.

AUTUMN POND MAINTENANCE
Firstly, we regularly remove leaves that have fallen to the surface of the water in autumn. Secondly, let’s not forget about cleaning up the plants and the bottom, and finally turning off the water facilities before winter comes.
The dead parts of water plants should be removed from the pond, and when the leaves start to fall from the trees and shrubs, cover the entire reservoir with a mesh so that you do not have to select them later.
Leaves and fruit falling into the pond are the main cause of water pollution. If they fall, they must be systematically removed so that as few of them as possible fall to the bottom of the tank. Autumn leaves can be removed with a special selector.
Dirt and sediments that accumulate in the bottom of the reservoir (in the place where the fish overwinter) should be removed. Rotting plant debris gives off poisonous gases and causes oxygen deficiency in the water, which can lead to the death of the fish. The simplest and cheapest way is to remove impurities with a special sieve or landing net.
Dirt and deposits can also be removed by pumping out the water. The bottom of the pond can then be cleaned with a brush. If there are fish in the pond, during cleaning it should be fished out (after a significant amount of water has been pumped out) and kept in a container filled with water from the tank. If the pond is filled with tap water, the fish can be introduced after 2-3 days after filling the pond.
