A small water pond will quickly turn into a muddy puddle if there is no water flow in it. Learn how to cleanse the water in your backyard.
HOW TO FILTER WATER IN A POND?
It is difficult to self-purify water in a small pond, so it is necessary to install a pump and a filter that will work day and night (fortunately, it does not have to be high-power equipment, so the costs are not high). The accessories (selected according to the amount of water in the reservoir) are best installed after ensured the pond excavation.
⠀
POND FILTER
Pond filter removes impurities from the water that flows through it (its movement is forced by the pump). Box filters are suitable for both small and large reservoir.
On the other hand, pressure filters are designed for small ponds (up to a dozen or so m3), but the water flows out of them under high pressure, so it can be directed to the cascade or to the fountain.
Pond filter (regardless of the type) is best placed in the shallow water zone (it will not be visible among the plants) ->
POND PUMP
It pumps water to the filter by a special hose and possibly to a fountain or cascade, and by setting it in motion – it also oxygenates and prevents the growth of algae (learn why blooming algae can become toxic to any lives in your pond). A flat model of pond pump with a side outlet will fit best in the bottom of the tank. Remember to place the device on a flat stone – otherwise it will suck in silt.
